Default Bones and unfolding cranes - 21.12.2006, 21:59

Hello all,
Since Martin told us that we can post some version 4 animations, here's my first animation of a human using bones (can't tell much, but I'm a beta tester). This example was done in 20 min (including modeling). Bones setup is sooo easy. I also tried it on a simple model of a folding crane. It worked better than expected!

Regards,

Peter

Hi,
That looks very nice (I like the crane better). Martin can I be a beta tester? Who made the animation on news page on the C3D web site? I'm happy that setting up bones is easy. I was afraid it would be hard

I did and there's some more linked on my website.

Maybe later. For the first I have enough testers.

Hi Peter,
so animating your crane with joints actually worked. Really cool.

It's nice to hear that you think setting up a skeleton is easy. And I have plans to make it even easier.

Bye,
Martin

They are on the front page:

Here are some animations produced with Cheetah3D, they're basic cycles but hopefully they'll help demonstrate Cheetah's abilities. Anyway, here they are: Animations."

Hi fused, I didn't see the animations that you made until now. They look great! For a tool that is in it's beta stage it's quite advanced (as far as my experience goes). The only thing was that I had to key every bone seperately. Is there a way to key all changes by different objects in one command?

Regards,
Peter

Ps. I'll try and make some more characters (better ones). I've mostly done technical and architectural models, but never characters, I'll try to improve my skills here!!

Hi Peter,
you just have to enable auto-keying in the timeline. Then every change of a joint will be recorded automatically.

Bye,
Martin

Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed my animations. I loved the example of a crane, that's a good use of bones.

Andrew

P.S. If you want to share some ideas PM me.
